New Zealand

The EM™ activities in New Zealand are spearheaded by the New Zealand Nature Farming Society (NZNFS), established in 1997. In 2002, the seventh International Nature Farming Conference was held in Christchurch with more than 200 people from 30 countries joining.

newzealand01Animal leftover parts from slaughterhouse are treated with EM™ and then are converted into rich compost with worms. When worm composting, it usually produces bad odor; however, treating with EM™ before worm composting prevents the odor problem, and reduces the cost as well.

The best example of a large scale system with EM™ compost is seen in Christchurch City. Also, not only household use but also public facilities and restaurants in Christchurch use EM™ to treat garbage so that they can make compost effectively and dispose garbage environment-friendly.

newzealand02EM™ is used on a trial base at Lincoln University, and the high-quality vegetables are harvested at an experimental plot.
